Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Secret Message, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and 17, you must have parental or guardian consent and we apply stricter privacy defaults.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or bully any person.
  • Send messages targeting minors with sexual content. We have a zero tolerance policy and report violations to NCMEC and equivalent authorities.
  • Promote self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide.
  • Spread hate speech, illegal content, or content that infringes intellectual property.
  • Spam, phish, or attempt to reveal sender identity through automation, social engineering, or third-party services.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service's operation.

4. Anonymity disclaimer

The service is anonymous-to-recipient, not anonymous-from-Secret Message. We retain sender metadata as described in our Privacy Policy. We will disclose this metadata to law enforcement when legally compelled and in response to credible threats. Do not use this service believing your messages cannot be traced.

5. User-generated content

You retain ownership of messages you send and receive. You grant us a limited license to display, transmit, and moderate that content for the purpose of operating the service. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.

6. Account termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We may also block specific senders or devices that violate our acceptable-use rules, even though they don't hold an account.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee 100% uptime, message delivery, or moderation accuracy. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email and will not take effect for 30 days from notice.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the courts of Dublin, Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction.
